Churros

A simple treat to go with a cuppa


50g caster sugar

75g unsalted butter

250ml of water

200g plain flour

1/4 tsp baking powder

1 egg


you will need oil for frying too, please take care when cooking with hot oil

method

add sugar, butter and water to a sauce pan and dissolve

add sifted flour and baking powder and beat until like a soft dough

add egg and beat again until incorporated, should be glossy and look like choux pastry

put into a piping bag with a star shaped nozzle and deep fry at 180c for 5-6 mins (until golden brown) let rest for a second and then put into a bowl of caster to dust, ideally serve immediately
